Alleppey Must Visit Places
The 2km long golden stretch of Alleppey Beach is perfection. The old pier may have creaky boards but is still a fine place to watch the sunset. For a more panoramic and breathtaking view of the sea and the whole town, one can climb the Lighthouse. The beach also has a Children’s Park and boating facilities in the lake. Visit the colonial-era Port House for some history. Most people avail the backwater cruise which promises truly wonderful views of nearby fishing islands and green paddy fields. If you want more quiet and solitude, then head 17kms away from Alleppey to the Mararikulam fishermen’s village. It is filled with lovely coconut groves and one can witness first-hand the daily routines of the fishermen and walk along the beach where fishing nets are dried.
